Police broke up a Good Friday service at a Polish church in London after officers said the service was violating English coronavirus regulations.
Faithful were worshiping at Christ the King church in the south of the capital on Friday when police arrived following reports of people queuing outside the building.
The service was being streamed live on social media and footage showed officers addressing those in attendance, warning them the gathering was “unlawful”.
The officer told worshipers to go home or they could be faced with a 200 pound fine or could even be arrested.
The church defended the service arguing regulations had been met and accused the police of exceeding their powers.
