A Canadian police force says it will investigate after video surfaced that appeared to show an officer push a boy, causing him to fall to the ground.
Under Ontario’s current stay-at-home order, skate parks are closed, along with other outdoor amenities such as golf courses, baseball diamonds and basketball courts.
After Sunday’s incident at a skate park a video circulated on social media that appears to show the Bracebridge OPP officer shove the boy.
On Tuesday, OPP released a statement that said officers had stopped to speak with a group of young people, “none of whom were wearing masks or social distancing.” It said officers tried to interact with the group which led to a “physical confrontation between an officer and a youth.”
According to a 19-year-old witness, some of the kids “got lippy” with police, although the boy involved in the physical altercation did not. He said the boy was OK, but was shaken up by the incident.
