Police enforce COVID-19 lockdown in South Africa as locals refuse to cooperate

Some people were arrested in the densely populated area of Hillbrow in #Johannesburg as police were deployed to enforce the 21-day nationwide lockdown called by #SouthAfrica’s President Cyril Ramaphosa on Thursday to slow down the spread of #coronavirus infections, as seen in the early hours of Friday in the country’s biggest city.

Footage shows police officers searching and questioning people defying the new measure, telling them to go back to their homes and arresting some.

South Africa has reported 927 coronavirus infections and two deaths so far.
