One of Queensland’s highest-ranking police officers has been appointed as the state’s vaccine coordinator to assist health authorities as the rollout continues to ramp up.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced Deputy Commissioner Shane Chelepy would take on the role as more vaccination hubs come online.
“It is absolutely imperative that we have someone that is front and centre to make sure that this vaccination roll out goes well,” Ms Palaszczuk said.
“But more than that, when we come up to September and October we know that there is going to be more supply coming from the Commonwealth.
Deputy Commissioner Chelepy will oversee the operational and logistical elements of the rollout to ensure more Queenslanders have access to COVID-19 vaccines.
