The relationship between police and Aboriginal people remains tense in many parts of Australia – a historical legacy of decades enforcing discriminatory government policy.
Across the country, efforts are underway to try to improve the relationship, including recruiting more Indigenous police officers.
In a remote corner of the country, it’s resulted in an odd-couple policing pair, as a teenager from the bush tries to navigate complex ground.
