Poland power play: “Civil society is very mobilized”

It’s a power play in Poland that’s having ripple effects across the continent. The opposition in Warsaw protesting against the second bill inside a week to tighten the leash on the judiciary, this time the supreme court. The president of the European Council’s asked – former prime minister Donald Tusk – has asked Poland’s head of state to confer with him before signing the bills into law, but they’re from opposing political families and judging by the angry scenes in parliament this week, reconciliation doesn’t seem on the agenda.
