Sir Keir Starmer has accused the government of being too slow to protect care home residents from coronavirus, quoting figures showing a high number of deaths and noting shortcomings in government guidance over recent weeks.

Boris Johnson says that since the care home action plan began ‘we are seeing an appreciable reduction in the number of deaths’ and that ‘getting the R number down in care homes will be critical’
