Boris Johnson faced Keir Starmer and MPs in the Commons for Prime Minister’s Questions following the announcement of the Government’s plan to tackle Covid-19 over the winter period.

Mr Johnson began by paying tribute to women’s singles champion Emma Raducanu, following her win at the US Open.

Leader of the Labour Party, Sir Keir Starmer, grilled the Prime Minister over the cut to universal credit that saw the £20 uplift removed.

Mr Starmer asked repeated questions about universal credit and linked the issue with the rise in taxes announced last week, accusing the PM of “hammering working people with tax rises and universal credit cuts”.
