Guardian News published this video item, entitled “PMQs: Do not visit amber list countries for holidays, says Johnson” – below is their description.
People should only travel to amber list countries in extreme circumstances, the prime minister insisted, as he dismissed accusations that the government was sending mixed messages about its traffic light system for foreign travel.
Challenged by opposition leader Keir Starmer over conflicting guidance from government ministers over what constituted acceptable grounds for visiting the 170 countries placed on the amber list, Johnson said: ‘You should not be going to an amber list country except for some extreme circumstance like the serious illness of a family member; you should not be going to an amber list country on holiday.’ He stressed that the fine for breaking the mandatory 10-day quarantine remained £10,000.
