Boris Johnson hailed the “heroic effort” of businesses as many prepare to reopen on Saturday.
He stressed the importance of supporting their livelihoods and said the “economic health of the country is dependent on every single one of us acting responsibly”.
A timetable for the reopening of businesses that are still closed will be published by the government next week.
