Sky News Australia published this video item, entitled “PM defends Cormann’s costly taxpayer-funded Europe tour for OECD role” – below is their description.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison has defended former finance minister Mathias Cormann’s use of a $4,000 per hour taxpayer-funded RAAF plane tour through Europe as he bids to become the next OECD boss. The aircraft has so far travelled more than 20,000 kilometres allowing the former finance minister to lobby in person for the job. The prime minister pushed back when asked about the cost of the campaign, declaring it a worthwhile investment. Labor is offering bipartisan backing to Mr Cormann’s tilt, and the Greens have written to ambassadors of member nations to argue against his bid. Greens Leader Adam Bandt argued appointing Mr Cormann as secretary-general would be a blow to tackling climate change.
