Ferdinand Marcos Junior has emerged the front runner by a huge margin in the May 9 presidential elections in the #Philippines. Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday congratulated him on his victory. A former senator, and the son of the late President Ferdinand Marcos, he promised more jobs, lower food prices and more investments in agriculture and infrastructure. Now, with a new president taking power in June, there could be a reset of the Philippines’ relationships with #China and the United States, and its outcome could be consequential to the Asia-Pacific region.
