Al Jazeera English published this video item, entitled “Philippines: Families of ‘Bloody Sunday’ victims demand justice” – below is their description.
In the Philippines, families of nine people killed by state forces on March 7 are calling for justice.
They say their loved ones were peaceful activists, targeted for criticising the government, while the police say the victims were killed because they resisted arrest, leading to what they called an “armed encounter”.
But rights groups say this narrative has long been used by police since its so-called “war on drugs” began in 2016.
The government has ordered an investigation into the killings.
Al Jazeera’s Jamela Alindogan reports from the Philippine capital, Manila.
