Al Jazeera English published this video item, entitled “Peru reopens Machu Picchu to tourists after 8-month COVID closure” – below is their description.
Tourists and visitors are trickling back to Machu Picchu, after eight months of closure due to the coronavirus pandemic. Peru’s government made the UNESCO World Heritage Site off-limits in March due to the pandemic, hitting a quarter of a million workers. It officially reopened this week but with health checks, and capacity limited to 30 percent, or 680 tourists a day. Al Jazeera’s Charlotte Bellis reports. –
