Penguin-clad climate activists stage protest at Berlin’s new airport, man glues himself to plane

Global News published this video item, entitled “Penguin-clad climate activists stage protest at Berlin’s new airport, man glues himself to plane” – below is their description.

Climate activists sought to disrupt the opening of Berlin’s new airport on Saturday by staging a penguin protest inside and outside the building, while one protester glued himself to the door of a plane and the airport tarmac. Wearing penguin costumes, protesters in the Berlin-Brandenburg Willy Brandt airport carried signs with slogans like “Flying is so yesterday” and “BER opening cancelled due to the climate crisis,” with some being apprehended by police. A video distributed by the Extinction Rebellion environmental group showed an activist glueing himself to the door of a Pegasus plane, while other demonstrators hung a sign from the steps to the plane reading: “We want to live” and others stuck themselves to the ground beside the aircraft to delay its departure.
