South China Morning Post published this video item, entitled “Peking duck sales spike in Beijing despite city’s Covid-19 ban on indoor dining” – below is their description.
Some restaurants have set up stalls on the pavement for takeaway as the Chinese capital Beijing has banned people from dining out, in a bid to contain its small Covid-19 outbreak. The ban on people consuming food inside restaurants, imposed on May 1, 2022, means eateries in the city have to rely on takeaway to survive. Beijing has seen a small spike in Covid-19 cases since mid-April. Residents have been subject to frequent mass testing, while transport and businesses have been shut down in some areas. China has been upholding its zero-Covid policy while many other countries are learning to live with the virus.
