CGTN published this video item, entitled “Path Finder: Meet Michael Pettis, economist & rocker” – below is their description.
For more: https://www.cgtn.com/video Michael Pettis is an American with two hats — two impressive hats. He is a renowned finance professor at Peking University, and he is better known as an incubator of China’s indie-rock music. In fact, he’s considered the Godfather of Beijing’s indie music scene. When Tian Wei first met Michael more than a decade ago, he was a pessimistic economist but the most optimistic rock club owner in Beijing. Things have changed a bit since then. He says he is no longer so skeptical as an economist. His legendary rock club D-22 closed in 2012, after the rock mecca of Beijing helped launch well-known bands such as Carsick Cars, Hedgehog and Joyside. This time, Michael invited Tian Wei to his world hidden in a lovely corner of Beijing’s hutongs. Listen in.
