Party-goers defy lockdown rules as European cities grapple with COVID fatigue

Global News published this video item, entitled “Party-goers defy lockdown rules as European cities grapple with COVID fatigue” – below is their description.

Warm weather brought crowds of people partying in a Belgian park on Wednesday, with most abandoning their face masks and ignoring social distancing guidelines, despite government COVID-19 lockdown rules.

“We are only young once, and we’re missing our youth for reasons which I believe don’t really exist,” one party-goer said.

A similar sight in Amsterdam, as crowds congregated in Amsterdam’s Vondelpark on Sunday, despite lockdown restrictions still being in place in the Netherlands to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Police later arrived to clear the crowds and were faced with hostility, according to local broadcaster Nederlandse Omroep Stichting (NOS).

European cities continue to grapple with COVID-19 fatigue and residents’ frustrations over lockdowns intended to control more contagious coronavirus variants.
