House Democrat leaders held a press conference on Wednesday following a hearing to discuss establishing a bill of rights for children in congregate care facilities.

Hotel heiress and abuse survivor Paris Hilton spoke to lawmakers, along with other institutional abuse survivors.

Hilton shared her story about the physical, verbal and mental abuse she experienced at Provo Canyon School as a teenager, stating that there needs to be accountability for institutions where there’s abuse.
