  • DW News published this video item, entitled “Parents of Belarusian journalist Raman Pratasevich urge action | DW News” – below is their description.

The parents of Raman Pratasevich have pleaded for international help to free the Belarusian journalist. “World … please stand up and help. I urge you to because they will kill him, they will kill him”, the journalist’s mother said.

Raman Pratasevich is not the only journalist being silenced by the Belarusian authorities. Dozens have been arrested since protests erupted last year, and Belarus’ authoritarian leader Alexander Lukashenko has recently signed a law restricting news reporting and allowing media outlets to be shut down without a court hearing.
