  • Global News published this video item, entitled “Palestinians in Gaza, West Bank protest Israeli nationalist march” – below is their description.

Palestinians congregated for “Day of Rage” protests in Gaza and the Israeli-occupied West Bank on Tuesday as thousands of Israeli nationalists marched in a flag-waving procession through East Jerusalem, an event that raised tensions with Palestinians.

Protesters marched through the streets carrying Palestinian flags and banners, while others scuffled with Israeli police in Jerusalem.

The march comes weeks following a Russian-brokered ceasefire after Israeli-Palestinian tensions and violence in contested Jerusalem helped trigger 11 days of cross-border fighting between Israel and Gaza’s ruling Hamas.

Hamas warned of renewed hostilities over the march, testing the mettle of the new Israeli government of Naftali Bennett, which approved the procession along an amended route that appeared designed to avoid friction with Palestinians.
