Palestinian Yacoub Shaheen wins Arab Idol song contest

It is a competition that brings the Arab world to a standstill, at least for a few hours.

Thousands gather in public spaces while some stay in their homes with one purpose, to tune into the musical reality contest Arab Idol.

This year’s winner is a Palestinian – and a member of Bethlehem’s small community of Christian Assyrians.
