Palestinian-American student snubs Blinken at graduation ceremony

Al Jazeera English published this video item, entitled “Palestinian-American student snubs Blinken at graduation ceremony” – below is their description.

Palestinian-American student Nooran Alhamdan refused to shake hands with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, during her graduation ceremony from Georgetown University in Washington, DC. Alhamdan, raised the Palestinian flag, and refused to shake hands with Blinken while on stage, telling him that the US government should cut all support to Israel.

As she made her way to the stage, her classmates carried pictures of slain Al-Jazeera correspondent Shireen Abu Akleh, who was killed by the Israeli army last week while covering Israeli occupation forces’ raids in Jenin.

Several US lawmakers have condemned Abu Akleh’s killing, with dozens of lawmakers demanding the FBI and State Department investigate the killing after Israel’s military said it would not investigate the case.

Nooran Alhamdan joins us from Washington, DC to discuss this.
