The sprawling but severely neglected ancestral homes of Bollywood film stars Raj Kapoor and Dilip Kumar in the Pakistani city of Peshawar will be given a second chance. Conservationists in Pakistan have set to work restoring the two mansions as part of a wider effort to revive the city’s cultural links with India and Central Asia. The government’s Peshawar Revival Plan, which got under way in 2020, aims to restore around 1,800 historical buildings as a means of reclaiming the city’s reputation as a cultural hub.
