A herd of more than 30 wild Asian elephants, adults and calves, were spotted foraging in leisure near the border with the Laos in Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, southwest China’s Yunnan Province. Local wildlife authorities have taken adequate measures to ensure the elephants and nearby villagers are safe. According to locals, these elephants came to the border town for food. They were probably attracted by the abundant vegetation and food in the area and decided to stay on.
