O’Toole says Liberals threatening election amid COVID-19 ‘to avoid any further scrutiny’

Global News published this video item, entitled “O’Toole says Liberals threatening election amid COVID-19 ‘to avoid any further scrutiny’” – below is their description.

Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole on Tuesday said that the Liberal party is “threatening” an election amid the COVID-19 pandemic “to avoid any further scrutiny,” adding that “kids can’t go trick-or-treating, but the Liberals think Canadians should go to the polls.” O’Toole also announced the “Opposition Day” motion, which proposes to establish a committee that would “look into the various ethical problems the government has,” including the “handing out of COVID-19 contracts to close friends and family members.” O’Toole was asked about whether he and his party have confidence in the government, saying he does not, but that he ‘doesn’t want a general election’. “You just said I have confidence in the government. I do not,” he told the reporter. “Do I want to have a general election? I do not want that either.” “We’re not going to let Mr. Trudeau suggest that our reasonable questions about a spending scandal mean we want to force a general election,” O’Toole said.
