It’s been several months since NASA’s Perseverance rover touched down on the surface of Mars, along with its small, robot companion helicopter Ingenuity.

In the months since then, the rover has been sending back slew of high-quality sounds it’s picked up as it journeys across the planet.

From howling winds to crunching wheels, Mike Drolet explains how the alien audio provides Earth’s scientists a deeper understanding of what it’s like on the Red Planet.
