Ontario Premier Doug Ford is expected to provide an update Monday on the province’s new COVID-19 cases and the government’s ongoing response to the coronavirus pandemic. He will be joined by Finance Minister and President of the Treasury Board Peter Bethlenfalvy and Minister of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Lisa MacLeod.
Ontario reported 2,094 cases of the novel coronavirus Monday, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 345,234.
It marked the fifth day in a row that the province has reported more than 2,000 cases. On Saturday, 2,453 cases were reported, which was the largest single-day increase in more than two months.
Ten new deaths were reported Monday, bringing the provincial death toll to 7,327.
Toronto’s mayor, John Tory, is also urging anyone 70 years or older to get vaccinated, saying three new COVID-19 mass vaccination clinics will open Monday, but there are still many appointments unfilled.
