ITV News published this video item, entitled “One year since the Beirut blast: How it has changed the people of Lebanon | ITV News” – below is their description.
When a warehouse full of ammonium nitrate exploded in a dockside Beirut warehouse, a year ago today, it created one of the biggest non-nuclear explosions the world has ever known.
There was a national day of mourning in Lebanon today for the more than 200 people who died.
It turned out not to have been terrorism – but negligence and corruption. The chemical should never have been stored there.
But even now, families are still waiting for answers about why it was.
Emma, who reported on the explosion at the time, has been hearing from those who survived that day, about the worst year of their lives.
