Black athletes in the US have been using their platforms to draw attention to issues of racism in recent weeks. Here in Germany, a professional basketball player has followed suit. After Berlin decided to change the name of Moor Street, Moses Pölking wants the city’s street and train station‚ Uncle Tom’s Cabin, to also be given a new name. He says it’s offensive to black people because it is named after a book written about a subservient US slave in the 1800s. He has even gotten political backing for his campaign.
