As the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Centre celebrates its tenth year, today staff and patients are mourning the loss of Dame Olivia Newton-John who died, aged 73.

“Today is a very sad day, but we are very keen to honour Olivia’s contribution. And her legacy here for many years. She’s touched the lives of thousands of patients. And really changed the way that we provide cancer care with a very holistic approach” – Adam Horsburgh – Chief Executive Officer.

The Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Centre is a partnership between Austin Health and the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research Institute and is based in Melbourne and is well known for its annual Wellness Walk fundraiser held each October.

“It was through Olivia’s time, effort and dedication that this centre was established. And, she really has touched the lives of many patients, and our staff, over the years.”

“Part of Olivia’s dream and vision for the centre was that we are able to look after and care for the whole of the patient. Their mind, body and spirit. And, that is really embodied in the cancer wellness centre.”

The iconic singer and actress was best known for her role in Hollywood blockbusters Grease and Xanadu, as well as a string of chart-topping hits that saw her admitted to the ARIA Hall of Fame, and made a Companion of the Order of Australia.
