Ms Berejiklian today backtracked on an announcement she made last week about Year 12 students returning to school on August 16, and suggested some may have to stay home for longer.

President of the NSW Secondary Principals Council, Craig Petersen, believes the state’s COVID-19 cases are too high for face-to-face learning but he welcomes the flexibility for principals to “determine what is appropriate” for their schools, staff and community.

He wants to make sure the majority of staff are vaccinated before returning to the classroom.
