7NEWS Australia published this video item, entitled “NSW rail union warns that there will be a strike, ‘go slow’ begins Saturday | 7NEWS” – below is their description.
A NSW-wide go-slow is set to create havoc for people travelling by train tomorrow. Commuters have been told to expect delays. The rail union has apologised to essential workers, but says its workers are hurting too and warns that next week, they’ll stop work completely.
“We’ve actually been taking protected industrial action for the last two weeks, and we still haven’t heard from anybody. So we’re starting to escalate those actions” – NSW Secretary, Alex Claassens, Rail, Tram and Bus Union.
“We’d sooner have discussions at the kitchen table instead of having arguments on the front lawn. Please come back, negotiate” – Andrew Constance MP – Transport Minister.
NSW Government Statement: “You may need to find alternative travel or allow extra travel time if you need to use the train network for essential travel due to planned industrial action on Saturday 25 September. Please don’t travel on the network if you can avoid it, as delays and longer journey times are expected for most of the day. Trains will run to a reduced frequency or be cancelled on some lines to minimise the impact of the planned disruption, which will see train services restricted to travelling no faster than 60 kilometres per hour and operated to stop at all stations. Essential travellers who usually travel by train are urged to plan ahead and use alternative transport options including driving and walking or cycling for shorter trips. The following lines will be affected by these disruptions, including a reduced speed and frequency and stop at all stations;
T1 North Shore & Western Line
T2 Inner West & Leppington Line
T3 Bankstown Line
T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line
T7 Olympic Park Line
T8 Airport & South Line
T9 Northern Line
Blue Mountains Line
Bathurst Services
Central Coast and Newcastle Line
South Coast Line
Southern Highland Line
Hunter Line
All regional rail services
T5 Cumberland Line services will not operate on Saturday. If you need to travel between Schofields and Leppington will be able to change at Granville to complete your journey. NSW TrainLink Intercity and Regional services are also affected by this industrial action. Regular route buses, Sydney Metro, light rail services and ferries will continue to run as normal but are expected to be busier than usual. You can also consider driving to a nearby station commuter car park to have better connections with alternative transport services. If you are planning to travel on the network this weekend, please also be aware of planned trackwork on some lines, including the City Circle, T2 Inner West & Leppington and the T3 Bankstown Line. We appreciate the inconvenience this action will cause and encourage customers to please consider alternative options. Sydney Trains has also been notified by the Rail, Tram and Bus Union (RTBU), Professionals Australia and Australian Services Union of planned industrial action to disrupt the network again on Tuesday 28 September. Customers will be provided with updated service impacts early next week.”

What’s missing in this story is quite obvious i.e. ” WHY is NSW Transport striking”???
Have they been gagged from mentioning the obvious? This Chan.7 news report is dead
in the water if the true reasons for this strike have been suppressed…….and they have !
