NSW recorded 2 deaths and 293 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 overnight.
Of the 2 deaths, a woman aged in her 90s died at the Tarrawanna aged care facility, north of Wollongong, where she acquired her infection. She had received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine and is the third death linked to an outbreak at this facility. A man in his 70s from south-western Sydney died at St George Hospital. He had received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
There have been 508 COVID-19 related deaths in NSW since 16 June 2021 and 564 in total since the start of the pandemic. There have been 68,756 locally acquired cases reported since 16 June 2021, when the first case in this outbreak was reported. There are currently 381 COVID-19 cases in NSW hospitals, with 82 people in intensive care, 38 of whom require ventilation. There were 89,678 COVID-19 tests reported to 8pm last night, compared with the previous day’s total of 89,875.
Of the 293 locally acquired cases reported to 8pm last night, 79 are from Hunter New England Local Health District (LHD), 51 are from South Western Sydney LHD, 30 are from Murrumbidgee LHD, 26 are from Western Sydney LHD, 22 are from Sydney LHD, 18 are from Mid North Coast LHD, 14 are from South Eastern Sydney LHD, 12 are from Illawarra Shoalhaven LHD, 11 are from Nepean Blue Mountains LHD, nine are from Northern Sydney LHD, six are from Western NSW LHD, five are from Southern NSW LHD, four are from Central Coast LHD and six are yet to be assigned to an LHD.
