NSW Coronavirus Update: An additional 9 cases of the Omicron variant have been discovered in the COVID outbreak that was discovered at Regents Park Christian School, St Peter Chanel Catholic Primary School in Regents Park and the Sydney Indoor Climbing Gym in Villawood.
NSW Health says the overnight discovery brings to 14 the total number of Omicron cases linked to the Regent’s Park Omicron cluster and, to date, none of these cases have been admitted to hospital in NSW for treatment of COVID-19.
NSW recorded 208 new cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. There is now a total of 25 cases of COVID-19 with the Omicron variant in NSW. There are currently 152 COVID-19 cases in hospital, with 24 people in intensive care, 5 of whom require ventilation.
Of the 208 cases reported today, 53 are from South Western Sydney Local Health District (LHD), 39 are from Western Sydney LHD, 36 are from South Eastern Sydney LHD, 32 are from Sydney LHD, 13 are from Northern Sydney LHD, five are from Hunter New England LHD, four are from Illawarra Shoalhaven LHD, three are from Mid North Coast LHD, three are from Southern NSW LHD, four are from Western NSW LHD, three are from Central Coast LHD, three are from Nepean Blue Mountains LHD, two are from Murrumbidgee LHD, one is from a correctional setting and seven are yet to be assigned to a LHD.
