Global News published this video item, entitled “Nova Scotian Mi’kmaw boy wraps 6-day walk honouring residential school victims and survivors” – below is their description.
A 12-year-old Mi’kmaw boy who began a six-day walk in honour of the victims and survivors of residential schools on July 1 wrapped up his journey Tuesday, but his act of endurance spread pride in his community.
The boy, who just turned 12, said he was doing the walk for his elders and “all the kids that didn’t make it from the residential schools.” His mother, who walked with him, says he’s been advocating for years for more awareness of Indigenous culture.
As Ross Lord reports, the simple gesture has struck a real chord with Canadians.
