ABC News (Australia) published this video item, entitled “No milkshakes – new book aims to help navigate teaching around consent | The Drum” – below is their description.
“What is consent?” It’s a question that’s been front and centre since former Sydney school student Chanel Contos launched an online petition calling for better sexual education in schools.
Over 2,000 current and former students responded with stories of rape, assault and harassment. All with the common theme – consent was absent, not sought, or not understood.
Contos’ hope is that better and earlier education about consent will prevent people from being sexually assaulted in high – assaults which she and thousands of other people have experienced.
Principals, educators, advocates and government have joined in the conversation pledging their commitment. What has changed?
