Australians will be forced to acclimate to a vaccine-dominated world, and Qantas’ ‘No Jab. No Fly’ rule is just the first of many health enforcements governments and businesses will begin to implement, says Sky News host Chris Smith. “The idea that welfare came with the responsibility of vaccinating your children took a while for Australians to accept. Some still don’t, he said. “Well, last night, the CEO at Qantas, Alan Joyce, gave Australian travellers a similar fright as he heralded in a new era; no jab, no fly. “For almost 12 months we’ve grappled with losing our freedoms, access to hospitality and exercise venues, having to keep our distance from others, staying at home like captives, and leaving our details almost everywhere we go. “Now comes the next phase; life in a vaccine-dominated world.” Mr Smith said Qantas was just the first in this new space and other airlines would be destined to follow, as well as workplaces, hospitals, Parliaments and other emergency services. “This is the new normal. Bear in mind it wasn’t that long ago when, depending on where you travelled, you required inoculations for diseases like Smallpox, Cholera, Typhoid, and before that yellow fever and polio,” he said. “The PM says we need a 90 per cent take-up rate for a vaccine to be effective in hopefully eradicating COVID-19. It is a big ask, a lengthy process and somewhat invasive, but the goal is worthwhile. “We want our lives back and that will never happen, as long as this virus remains in our communities.”
