The Chinese Embassy in Tonga spoke about the situation of Chinese citizens in the country following a volcanic eruption and tsunami. The embassy said there are no fatalities of Chinese citizens reported on Tongatapu – the main island in Tonga. However, several cases of people sustaining minor injuries were reported.
