Nicola Sturgeon has revealed that Scottish schools will return on August 11, more than two months after England’s planned start date.
In an address to the Scottish Parliament, the First Minister said that institutions would return using a “blended” model of education.
“To allow appropriate physical distancing, children will return to a blended model of part time in-school and part time at-home learning,” she said.
In England schools are set to resume from June 1, but clashes with teaching unions and councils has thrown the date into doubt.
