Global News published this video item, entitled “New Zealand’s Jacinda Ardern calls election victory “vote of confidence” on COVID-19 response” – below is their description.
New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said Sunday that her victory in Saturday evening’s election was a “vote of confidence” from New Zealanders on her government’s COVID-19 response. Ardern made the comments while speaking to reporters on Saturday, a day after New Zealanders cast ballots for her in a landslide victory. With most votes counted, Ardern won a second term in office with her Labour Party winning 49 per cent of the vote compared to 27 per cent for its main challenger, the conservative National Party. Ardern said she expects to form government “within the next two to three weeks” although the final results of Friday evening’s election could still be weeks away, saying her party had received a strong mandate from New Zealanders. She also said she was not surprised by the results, but that the numbers that had voted for her party did “exceed her expectations.” For more info, please go to https://globalnews.ca/news/7403127/new-zealand-election-polls/ Subscribe to Global News Channel HERE: http://bit.ly/20fcXDc Like Global News on Facebook HERE: http://bit.ly/255GMJQ Follow Global News on Twitter HERE: http://bit.ly/1Toz8mt Follow Global News on Instagram HERE: https://bit.ly/2QZaZIB #JacindaArdern #NewZealand #GlobalNews
