New York Attorney General Letitia James and New York City Mayor Eric Adams are suing “ghost gun” manufacturers and distributors for fueling a surge in gun violence across the state.
In two separate lawsuits — the city’s against five gun makers and the state’s against 10 out-of-state gun distributors — they’ll be targeting ‘ghost guns,’ which are unregistered guns that are typically assembled from a kit and are difficult to trace, the officials announced Wednesday. This is the first lawsuit brought by the attorney general under the state’s gun industry liability law that was passed last year.
“We are going to fight against the surge of gun violence,” Adams said at the event at Manhattan Community College. “We want to halt the rapidly escalating danger of illegal ghost guns.”
