New York governor rejects calls to remove Columbus statue

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said a statue of Christopher Columbus in New York City should stay, rejecting calls for the symbols of the Italian explorer to be removed. In recent days, protesters against racial inequality across the world have destroyed and vandalized a number of monuments depicting controversial historical figures.
