New York’s JFK airport is expected to close around noon on Saturday 27th August 2011 and passengers are being advised check with their travel provider before travelling to the airport as most flights to and from the airport will be suspended until Hurricane Irene has passed.

The following outbound flights from New York JFK have been cancelled:

Saturday, 27th August 2011

CX831 … New York JFK to Hong Kong
CX889 … New York JFK to Vancouver

Sunday, 28th August

CX845 … New York JFK to Hong Kong
CX841 … New York JFK to Hong Kong
CX831 … New York JFK to Hong Kong
CX889 … New York JFK to Vancouver

Monday, 29th August

CX845 … New York JFK to Hong Kong

Cathay Pacific flights from Hong Kong and Vancouver to New York JFK with arrivals during this period have also been cancelled.

Passengers travelling to or from Boston, Hartford, Newport News/Williamsburg, New York (LaGuardia), Newark, Philadelphia or Washington, D.C. (Reagan) with Frontier airlines are being advised to change their travel plans to move before or after the storm. Several flights have been cancelled and Frontier is accommodating alterations to travel plans.

US Airways has also cancelled a number of flights around the East Coast and advises passengers to check the website to arrange for alternative passage.

Normal flights are expected to resume on Monday 29th August and passengers should check the website or hotline of their carrier for further information.
