Sydney’s COVID infections are spiking with calls for the city to be placed back into lockdown with a major alert for Bankstown Sports Club.
Earlier today, the premier revealed 18 new infections with the biggest worry being the Croydon cluster with cases there certain to rise.
The outbreak means there are now tighter restrictions just in time for New Year’s Eve.
Despite all that, the SCG Test will go ahead as planned next week with as many as 25,000 fans.
While the vaccine rollout remains on track, it has been revealed to 7NEWS that there will be no emergency approval of the Pfizer jab here.
On a day that saw a sudden surge in infections, the latest alerts stretch as far west as the Blue Mountains.
