Following the proclamation of the King in London, proclamations have been read across Australia, including outside New South Wales’ Parliament House.

A crowd of 4,000 people witnessed the proclamation of our new Sovereign, made by Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC.

The ceremony concluded with the NSW Police band playing ‘God Save the King’ and the Australian national anthem. A 21-gun salute occurred in the grounds of Government House.

The death of Her Majesty The Queen resulted in the proclamation of the accession of His Majesty The King, Charles the Third, King of Australia.

The Governor General made the first proclamation in Australia at Parliament House in Canberra.
