New Chancellor Nadhim Zahawi has pledged his support for embattled Boris Johnson, saying now is the time for the Conservative Party to “unite” behind the prime minister and “deliver” on their pledges.
The former education secretary said Boris Johnson “owned” the “mistakes” he made over the Chris Pincher row and has shown integrity in apologising for what he did.
The 55-year-old also doesn’t believe he’ll be the shortest reigning chancellor in history and says he has a strategy to rebuild the economy.
