Although India’s COVID-19 crisis continues to deepen, the situation in the neighbouring country of Nepal is also getting worse.
Daily case counts there have averaged over 8,000 a day in the last week, with the surge believed to be bolstered by migrant workers returning from India. Meanwhile, the country’s vaccination rate also sits at a meager 7 per cent.
As Redmond Shannon reports, Nepal’s underfunded and ill-prepared hospitals are struggling to cope.
Covid-19 is the official WHO name given to the novel coronavirus which broke out in late 2019 and began to spread in the early months of 2020.
