#Myanmar’s shadow government said Southeast Asian leaders should invite it to a summit in Indonesia next week. Figures in Myanmar’s protest movement and ousted members of parliament formed a “national unity government” on Friday. They’ve called on the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) not to recognize the current military government. Myanmar’s junta chief will attend the ASEAN summit in Jakarta on Saturday in his first foreign trip since the military takeover on February 1. A local monitoring group said escalating violence in Myanmar has left at least 730 people dead.
