Global News published this video item, entitled “Myanmar workers flee Chinese industrial zone after attack” – below is their description.
Myanmar workers evacuated themselves from a Chinese industrial zone in Yangon’s suburbs on Tuesday, after factories there were attacked.
Arson attacks on March 14 against 32 Chinese-invested factories in Hlaingthaya prompted China’s strongest comments yet on the turmoil gripping its neighbour, where many people see Beijing as supportive of the coup.
Workers streamed out of Hlaingthaya on motorbikes and in taxis, filling the roads with traffic.
China’s embassy urged Myanmar’s generals to stop the violence after the attacks caused damage worth $37 million and injured to two Chinese employees. At least 184 people have been killed by the security forces in weeks of protests against military rule in Myanmar, the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) said. The death toll rose again on Tuesday as one protester was shot dead in the central town of Kawlin, a resident there said.
Plus, a group of protesters demonstrating against military rule in Myanmar lobbed petrol bombs on a bridge in the city of Yangon on Tuesday, setting makeshift barricades on fire.
